The coronavirus pandemic is creating huge uncertainty for musicians and the music ecosystem. The #NextStageChallenge online hackathon and support program aims to find solutions that can help artists, promoters and others affected by the global lockdown to explore new experiences and business models for the current crisis and beyond.
The #NextStageChallenge is a three-phase program, supporting innovative and sustainable projects to reshape the live music experience in the digital space.
The call for registration is open until 01 May, 2020. The remote hackathon challenge kicks off on 01 May and closes on 15 May. The support program to accelerate the selected winning projects will run from 21 May to 10 July, 2020.
Three key challenges were identified by individuals and organisations from Europe’s music and technology industries. The objective is to find quick but concrete solutions to support musicians and the music industry. The three challenges are:
- #Access (creation, production, broadcasting, curation)
- #FanEngagement (audience, user experience, immersives technologies)
- #Value (monetization, monitoring, right management)
Being part of the #NextStageChallenge movement is an opportunity to put your ideas and innovative concepts in action to find immediate solutions that can give a chance to artists, promoters and all those that have been deeply affected by the global lockdown to explore new forms of experience and business models for the current crisis; and also to work towards longer term innovations that can help provide greater future to the music business.
As a participant, you will have the opportunity to interact with recognised domain industry experts as mentors.
Moreover, two projects per track will be selected to go through an acceleration program (from May 21st to July 10th, 2020). The program will be supported by top-quality music industry, technical and business venture experts with dedicated pitching and exchange sessions.
